Vacancy Description:

Our client is a multi-disciplined Main Contractor that works across a broad section of the construction industry. They have won a number of projects within the West Midlands and as such require a Health and Safety Manager to join them on a permanent basis to be responsible for leading the health and safety department and implementing and ensuring continuous improvement on all health and safety standards.

Project sectors include: New Build / Refurbishments on Residential, Commercial, Student Accommodation projects (£5m - £40m)

Key responsibilities:

- Report into the Chief Operations Officer regarding all H&S matters.
- Manage the company's external site auditors.
- Advise on all H&S matters as appropriate.
- Responsible for the attainment of the pertinent H&S accreditations.
- Manage/stop any operation where the activity poses a serious risk to health & safety.
- Representing the company to external auditors and legal bodies.
- Ongoing coaching and advice to site employees.
- Carrying out H&S training where appropriate.
- Assisting in the implementation of the environmental management system at HQ and all construction sites.
- Monthly / quarterly meetings / management reviews.
- Communicate with other local interested parties on H&S issues.
- Manage and resolve requests for information and queries from site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
- Efficient coordination and deployment of consultants.
- Completing the programme of inspections and audits to ensure compliance
- Timely production of statistics and recommendations to the Board
- Efficient inspection of all accidents, incidences of non compliance or dangerous occurrences

Key qualifications / Experience required:

A Level 6 NEBOSH (Construction) Diploma is desirable
Recent, up to date knowledge and relevant HSEQ experience in the construction industry
Up to date knowledge and understanding of 1SO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
